Sharon Cannon received the Nurses’ Week Award from American State Bank in Odessa, May 9, 2005.

Carrie Edwards and Jana Saunders were chosen by Sigma Theta Tau International to participate in the 2005 Chiron Mentoring Program. They will be representing the School of Nursing and our local chapter of Iota Mu at the Upcoming Chiron Institute in Indianapolis, July 26-29, 2005.
Pat Francis received TNA Nurse of the Year from the District Chapter of TNA.
Barbara Johnston was appointed to serve as Secretary of AACN Leadership Network: Graduate Nursing Admissions Professionals (GNAP) Network for 2005-06 in April, 2005. She was appointed as alternate delegate to the White House Conference on Aging September 2005 by Senator Cornyn of Texas.
Barbara Johnston, Emily Merrill and Gayle Varnell delivered a podium presentation, “Pearls and Pitfalls of Distance Education: A Ten-Year Collaboration” at the 31st Annual Meeting of NONPF in Chicago, IL, April 16, 2005.
Barbara Johnston presented “Graduate Nursing Programs: Exploring Your Options”, a panel presentation sponsored by AACN at the National Student Nurses Association Convention in Salt Lake City, UT, on April 7, 2005. Barbara also presented “Clinical Research – Do I Want a Degree?” during Hot Topics in Clinical Research at TTUHSC on April 26, 2005.
Heather Morris received TNA Nurse of the Year School Chapter of TNA.
Stacey Slavik and Sally Coates have a publication, “Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing Introduces Senior House Calls”, published in the National Nursing Centers Consortium Update, April 2005. Their brief helps disseminate the work of the School of Nursing, our faculty and staff are doing to provide quality care to home bound elders.
